New Horizons is powered by a plutonium-238 battery and carries with it the ashes of the planet's discoverer, Clyde W. Tombaugh, who died in 1997. Incidentally, it should be noted that barely four months after the launch of the probe, on August 24, 2006, Pluto was stripped of the rank of planets by the congress of the International Astronomical Union meeting in Prague.
Le défi de photographier Pluton
Symbolisme et mythologie
For astrologers too, although from a different point of view, photographing Pluto is a formidable challenge, a challenge that can even be described as Promethean: ruler of the sign of Scorpio, he reigns unchallenged over the world of the invisible; it is the key to the processes of disintegration and transformation that always take place in darkness; He is the guardian of life and death, and in this he commands the greatest of mysteries, that of the passage from one state of existence to another. And he does not like to be seen, which is why, as god of the underworld, he wears a helmet made of dog skin that makes him invisible and that he never takes off, as mythology relates. Moreover, doesn't his Greek name Hades mean "invisible"?
Courroux potentiel de Pluton
Under these conditions, we can assume that the fact of photographing Pluto is likely to arouse his wrath, he who in ancient times was feared by men to the point that they did not even risk pronouncing his name, while those of current times have not hesitated to take away his rank. As a reminder, Pluto was discovered on February 18, 1930 and it entered the sign of Leo on June 14, 1939, which is to light what Scorpio is to darkness. As is well known, this symbolic illumination was followed less than three months later by the outbreak of the Second World War (see Pluto News).
Pluto will therefore be the last of the planets in the solar system to be photographed by a probe, as the other two trans-Saturnian planets, Uranus and Neptune, were previously photographed by the Voyager 2 probe in 1986 and 1989. In fact, these two years were marked by events that not only left a deep mark on recent history, but also resonate perfectly with the symbolism of the planet visited.
Événements historiques et symbolisme planétaire
Survol d’Uranus par Voyager 2

Liftoff of the shuttle Challenger, January 28, 1986, 11:38 a.m., Cape Canaveral, Florida
Voyager 2 and the flyby of Uranus
It has since been known that the accident was caused by human error: due to the cold that had prevailed the night before the launch, an O-ring of one of the two solid rocket propellants attached to the main hydrogen tank broke, even though it had not been tested for temperatures below 0° C.
Despite the conjunction of the Sun to Mercury and Venus applying to Jupiter in Aquarius, we note that Pluto, angular to the Descendant in Scorpio, sends three squares to the triple conjunction and that Mars, also in Scorpio, sends one square to Jupiter.
It was as if the two rulers of Scorpio had decided otherwise, probably under the aegis of Uranus: the latter is in the eighth house and transmits its influxes in semi-squares, on one side to Pluto and on the other to Mercury and the Sun. He also sends a sesqui-square to the Taurus Ascendant whose ruler, Venus, receives, as we have seen, a square of Pluto. In addition, Saturn (the cold) is placed on the cusp of the VIII House and forms a square to the Moon. Finally, Lilith, placed in the first house, is precisely conjunct the fixed star Algol, which is known to be "the worst star in the heavens" (V. Robson).
However, it was not this event, as dramatic as it was, that had the greatest impact on 1986, but the Chernobyl disaster that occurred three months later, on 26 April 1986.
Catastrophe de Tchernobyl
Also as a result of a series of human errors, in this case by the plant's managers who were engaged in an "exercise", reactor No. 4 exploded, causing the core loaded with uranium rods to melt down and releasing a huge quantity of radioactive material (fission products) into the atmosphere.
Apart from the few direct victims of the accident, it was mainly the "liquidators" who paid the heaviest price: of the 600,000 people who came from all over the Soviet Union to try to shut down the reactor, it is estimated that about 10% lost their lives in the months or years that followed, and that 30% remained disabled. In addition, of course, there are the health consequences on the region's populations, for which estimates remain contradictory.

Chernobyl disaster, 26 April 1986, 1:23:44, Pripyat, Ukraine
It is also known that the radioactive cloud spread not only to Ukraine and Belarus, but also to part of Western Europe, including southern France and Corsica, where it led to a significant increase in the number of thyroid cancers.
This disaster was the first to be classified at level 7, the highest on the International Nuclear Event Scale (INES). The other disaster of the same kind, but due to entirely different causes, is that of the Fukushima nuclear power plant, which occurred on March 11, 2011 following an underwater earthquake.
The signature of Uranus is even more clearly manifested here: placed very precisely on the Ascendant, it sends a semi-square to Pluto and a sesqui-square to the Sun, i.e. the same type of aspects as in the previous chart, and does not form any harmonic aspect. We should also note the presence of Saturn on the cusp of the XII House and the framing of the Moon, falling in Scorpio, by Pluto and Saturn. If the themes of the two catastrophes analyzed above clearly highlight the role of Uranus and its semi-square on Pluto, we can also see that, in addition to their explosive aspect, the two events are directly linked to the symbolism of Uranus and Aquarius: space in the first case, radioactive radiation in the other.
Voyager 2 and the Neptune flyby
But the end of communism also put an end to the geopolitical balance established since the end of the Second World War by the two superpowers of the time, the United States and the Soviet Union. Since then, the emerging powers have become great powers in their own right, starting with China, and from bipolar the world has become multipolar, increasing the risks of imbalance. While the fall of the Wall was clearly part of an inevitable process that had been underway for several years, its symbolic significance continues to mark contemporary history.
Fall of the Berlin Wall, November 9, 1989, 6:57 p.m.
The chart is marked by the exact opposition of Jupiter to the exact conjunction of Saturn and Neptune, the latter symbolizing communist regimes and being close to the Descendant, the place of decline, while Jupiter's opposition symbolizes the culmination of the exasperation that was simmering among the peoples subjected to these regimes. We will note the presence of Uranus, ruler of the Midheaven, on the cusp of this same Descendant, who here can be assimilated to the sudden and unpredictable liberation movement of the East German people, and more broadly of the peoples of Eastern Europe who quickly benefited from it afterwards. However, the simultaneous presence in Scorpio of Lilith, her rulers Mars and Pluto, and finally Mercury and the Sun, marks the end of an era and gives a glimpse of the profound changes that resulted from this event.
Let us now come to the study of the astralities that will prevail during the approach of Pluto by the New Horizons probe.
New Horizons et le survol de Pluton
Flyby of Pluto, July 14, 2015, 11:49:59 UT
New Horizons and the flyby of Pluto
Analyse astrale du survol de Pluton
Examination of this map, obviously not domied, shows that, obviously, Pluto is not very enthusiastic about the idea of humanity coming to visit him at home, especially to photograph him very closely! But let's try to understand it: Pluto is (or was, depending on the point of view of astronomers) a planet of the solar system, it is also a symbol for astrologers, reflecting a part of our humanity, both individual and collective, and finally it is a god for the Ancients from whom we are descended. Pluto is probably all of these things at the same time, but it is certainly not on the same level as those who have come to observe it.
It is enough to look at its position in relation to the other stars to be convinced of the above:
– If the orb of the square of Uranus to Pluto tends to distend (6° 23'), the exact last square having formed three months earlier, it will nevertheless remain active, especially since:
– Saturn in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn, in exchange of domicile, will form an exact semi-square
– Mars, since Cancer, the sign of its fall, will form an exact opposition to Pluto and an equally exact sesqui-square to Saturn
– The Sun in Cancer will also be in opposition to Pluto and in close square of Uranus
– The Moon in Cancer will come the next day to potentiate these different influxes by reaching the conjunction of Mars, thus in turn the opposition of Pluto and the sesqui-square of Saturn.
Finally, it should be noted that these configurations will take place in a context of an applying square between Jupiter and Saturn, often linked to political, economic, social or international difficulties.
Comparison of these configurations with the Pluto discovery chart (February 18, 1930, 4:30 p.m., Flagtsaff, Arizona) shows that Pluto will arrive at the opposite of its original position (17° 46' Cancer, or 3° 42' of orb) for the first time since it was revealed to humanity. The ruler of Scorpio will therefore have gone through half of his zodiacal cycle between the time he was seen from a distance and the time he was seen up close. We also note that it originally formed a sesqui-square to the Sun (29° 36' Aquarius), whereas this time it will be at its opposition.
Tensions et configurations planétaires
To return to the analysis of the configurations of July 14, 2015, it will clearly be a climate of great tension potentially mixed with violence and fear, the beginnings of which everyone is already feeling, and which will be likely to manifest the cumulative effects of the seven squares that will have formed successively from June 2012 to March 2015 between Uranus and Pluto (at the time of writing, we are on the fourth). Need we remind you that Pluto is currently in Capricorn, a sign of structure and power, and Saturn is in Scorpio, a sign of disintegration? As the two stars are in exchange of domicile, they seem to act in concert to deconstruct society and weaken the powers that be, at least in some countries, by calling into question the law in its various forms and by jeopardizing social cohesion. It is precisely because the law struggles to impose itself that moral values crack and consequently fears appear, leading in turn to the awakening of instincts of defense and survival that end up leading to rebellion, violence, hatred, barbarism and chaos. If the causes of this situation are multiple and known, first and foremost the strengthening of individualism, it is clear that nothing has really been done to remedy it, quite the contrary, and that we are moving at increasing speed towards some form of paroxysm. Indeed, we cannot imagine greater tension than that contained by Uranus and Pluto when they are in square, as we have already seen for the 1930s.
If, therefore, in the period following the flyby of Pluto, there were to be a large-scale event that could change the course of events to an extent at least equal to the Chernobyl disaster or the fall of the Berlin Wall, we can try to find out what it could be. Certainly that of Pluto, so we can refer to its current manifestations to get an idea of what it could be: a major terrorist action, the advent of a totalitarian regime in a large country, possibly following an insurrectional situation, religious or civil war, nuclear disaster, ecological disaster... While these prospects are resolutely pessimistic, I am aware of it and I regret it, they are nevertheless possible given the evolutionary trend that is currently emerging.
We can also look for the countries that could be most affected by it thanks to the themes of states, even if this method can only evoke a few hypotheses and leave the field open to countless eventualities, especially in view of the increasingly strong and rapid interactions that are taking place in all parts of the world today. Three countries seem to stand out in particular, including ours.

Transits of 14 July 2015 for France
France: based on the theme of the Vth Republic, we can see that Pluto will sweep for a little more than a year, from December 2014 to January 2016, the zone between 12° and 15° of Capricorn.
It will therefore form a series of squares both at the Sun and Mercury as well as at the Ascendant, and will even hover, at the end of September and beginning of October 2015, at 12° 58', i.e. 0° 01' from the exact square of the radical Sun. In the same period, Saturn will be added by sending a semi-square to the Sun and then a sesqui-square to the Ascendant, as it will have already done in December 2014 and from mid-June to mid-July 2015. It will also affect Mars, ruler of the Aries Ascendant, in January, June and October 2015. On July 14, 2015, the National Day, the Sun of the Vth République will therefore be affected by the square of Pluto (with an orb of 1° 07'), that of Mars (orb of 0° 22') and the semi-square of Saturn (orb of 0° 37').
Added to the universal constitutions mentioned above, it appears that our country could go through a serious ordeal, the repercussions of which would be likely to jeopardize our institutions, at least for a time. Indeed, the Sun of the Vth Republic is in Libra, the sign of balance and of the Law (Saturn is purposely exalted there), the latter ensuring the former, and it is precisely the Sun that is most affected by the combined influxes of Pluto and Saturn.
14 July 2015 transits for Japan
14 July 2015 transits for Japan
Japan: The Heisei era officially began on January 8, 1989, the day after the death of Emperor Hirohito and the beginning of the reign of Akihito, the current emperor.
Taking as a basis the chart drawn up for this date at 00:00, we can see the following transits for July 14, 2015: Pluto will be in conjunction with the Moon in Capricorn, Mars in opposition and Saturn in the semi-square. However, it was in April and May 2016 that he achieved, first by retrograde and then by direct march, the almost exact conjunction (at 0° 02') of the radical Sun. Finally, in June 2016, Uranus will reach the conjunction of Mars in Aries.
As the solo-lunar pair is located near the Bottom of the Sky, it is possible that a large-scale event could lead to a profound change in Japanese society during this period, including a change of era.
July 14, 2015 transits for the United States
July 14, 2015 transits for the United States
The United States: The July 14, 2015 configurations have even greater effects on the theme of the United States Declaration of Independence.
Let us judge for ourselves:
– Pluto is placed, for the first time in American history, at the exact opposition of the radical Sun and forms an exact square to radical Saturn in the X House, these two stars being in square in the radix
– Mars is exactly on the radical Sun (0° 0' 29" orb!) and squared radical Saturn
– Saturn is exactly sesqui-square the Sun and square the Moon radix.
The adverse aspects of Pluto and Saturn on the radical Sun of the United States are first of all reminiscent of the fact that the nation can be suddenly affected at the heart (the Sun) or at the top of the state (Saturn in X), and rather by an event of a political, criminal or accidental nature than by an economic one, Uranus being here implicated in no other way than by its square to Pluto. It should be noted in passing that Saturn will be precisely in the Midheaven of President Obama's natal Sky, while he was in the XII House and ruler of the latter in his natal chart. In addition, on the same day Mars will be opposed by transit to radical Saturn. All this contributes to a glimpse of a critical situation, which is quite difficult to assume or control.
To conclude
Conclusion
New Horizons crossing space towards the planet which, in all its aspects, symbolizes darkness (since Pluto, our Sun can only be seen as a star barely bigger than the others), we are entitled to think that the new horizons in question are likely to be dark. It was indeed illusory to think that the consequences of the 2008 financial crisis would only be economic, when – as we see today – they could not fail to be social, political and moral, especially since the traditional landmarks have long since disappeared from the concerns of those in charge of power.
But it is in the darkness that mutations are accomplished, it is in darkness that reversals are effected, it is from the shadow that light is born. Let us work to dispel fear and enlighten our consciences to prepare ourselves for the great light that will follow the crisis and bathe the new times.
